Trolling for Cobia, King Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, Atlantic Bonita, Spanish Mackerel, Tarpon, Sharks, Barracuda, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish, Dolphinfish (Mahi-Mahi)

There's a wide variety of desirable game fish right off the coast of Pensacola. Depending on the season, what you encounter when trolling in the Gulf of Mexico changes during the year. The warmer the weather gets, the more fish arrive and the closer the big fish are to shore.

Big Cobia begin arriving off the coast of Pensacola in March. In April, King Mackerel and Sharks arrive and trolling just keeps getting better. By summer, you might encounter Tarpon, Wahoo, Dolphinfish (Mahi-Mahi) and even Sailfish when trolling in the Gulf with Captain Brandy. There are plenty of other fish you might catch when trolling off the Pensacola coast including Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel, Atlantic Bonitas and Blackfin Tuna.

The trolling stays good as long as weather permits and tapers off as the weather cools. In winter, trolling in Pensacola is replaced with year long reliable Bottom Fishing!

Offshore Sight Fishing

Sight Fishing for Cobia, Bull Redfish, Sharks, Tarpon

When it comes to sight fishing, few Pensacola charter boat captains have the advantage of a "Cobia" tower like Captain Brandy. Also known as a "Tuna Tower", "Drum/Flats Tower" or "Crow's Nest", a sight fishing tower can change a day of fishing into a day of catching. Here on the Gulf Coast, we like to call them "Cobia Towers" after our favorite sight fishing catch.

Towers are not the newest thing in fishing, but they are hottest! Towers have already transformed sight fishing in many parts of Florida. Towers are now commonly used when sight fishing for tarpon in Florida Bay down in the Keys or big bull reds in Mosquito Lagoon over on Florida's East coast.

Cobia towers are also catching on in the Florida Panhandle. Captain Brandy had his tower custom built and fitted for his 24' Blazer Bay Boat. It make's a huge difference when fishing for Cobia, big Bull Redfish and Sharks and even spotting schools of Jack Crevalle!

Offshore Bottom Fishing

Bottom Fishing for Red Snapper, Mangrove (Gray) Snapper, Lane Snapper, Vermillion Snapper, Grouper, Amberjacks, Triggerfish

For successful Bottom Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico you always have to know where the best fishing spots are located. It takes a knowledgeable guide like Captain Brandy with many years of experience fishing the local Gulf waters to put you on the fish! Captain Brandy's favorite, private, bottom fishing spots include artificial reefs as well as natural reefs around rock ledges and outcroppings.

Florida leads the country in the creation of environmentally sound artificial reefs. The reefs are made primarily of discarded concrete structures such as culverts and bridge platforms and have been extremely successful in creating plenty of new habitat for bottom loving fish. Even scuttled ships, tugboats and barges are part of Florida's extensive network of artificial reefs.

In addition to the bottom loving fish such as Snapper, Grouper and Triggerfish, the reefs are home to predators such as Sharks and Barracudas and especially Amberjacks. Hooking into a stubborn, hard fighting Amberjack while bottom fishing is an unforgettable experience.

There are plenty of other species that inhabit or visit the reefs. You might catch large adult Flounder and Redfish or you might even hook into a Cobia or Tarpon! Either way, bottom fishing in the Gulf of Mexico with Captain Brandy is a great way to catch fish and have fun for the entire family! Book Your Pensacola Fishing Charter with Captain Brandy and make great memories to last a lifetime!
